Music and painting have always shaped my daily life. The arts carried me through childhood and influenced the way I see the world.
From a very young age, I developed a deep fascination for the human being, with all its complexity, shadows, and bursts of light. Psychology captivated me. I wanted to understand, to dissect, to feel. Academic challenges eventually pushed me away from that path, but art became the fertile ground where I could bring together both my love for humanity and my need to let go.
Through creation, I explore the intimate, the unspoken, and the language of the body. Emotion often reveals itself more clearly through a glance, a gesture, or a silence than through words. By painting the human figure, I try to give shape to these quiet truths, to those fragments of the soul that speak only in half-tones.
My style moves between abstraction and figuration, a fluid and liberating space where instinct takes over. My impulsiveness enters the canvas with me. I often start wanting to control everything, but the canvas brings me back into balance. It speaks, I listen, and a dialogue begins.
This face-to-face with the material grounds me, centers me, and guides me. In this silent conversation, I find answers to my unfinished questions and, above all, a space where I can exist fully.

Florence Lemay Biography
Florence Lemay is a visual artist from Levis, Canada. Her work has earned recognition at home and abroad through exhibitions and live painting performances. In 2024 she was a finalist in major live painting competitions in Toronto and Chicago, including a special branded edition. That same year she created a funded living mural in Levis, Canada, and was selected in a juried competition in Canada. She also presented work in London and in Monaco, where she performed live painting.
Lemay's practice explores the human figure, emotion, and body language. She is interested in what is intimate and unspoken. The paintings move between abstraction and figuration, inviting viewers to read gesture, gaze, and silence as carriers of meaning. Music shapes her process. She works to its rhythm, translating cadence and mood into movement on the surface.
Live performance is central to her path. She has painted at notable cultural events in Quebec City, Canada, including evenings that combined painting and music. Beyond her studio practice she serves her community. She acted as a regional spokesperson for Culture Days in 2022. In 2023 she opened a gallery space in Levis, Canada, to share her work and collaborate with other artists.
