Yann Lemieux explores strength, freedom, and emotional tension through a visual language centered on the female figure. Bold contours, dynamic silhouettes, and expressive faces anchor his compositions, giving form to a universe built on matter, movement, and instinct. His feminine presences are never passive; they function as powerful vehicles of expression-fluid, assertive, and charged with energy.
His practice is defined by layered construction. Working with ultra-low-viscosity acrylics, he builds images through successive applications in which lines, shapes, and gestures overlap and interact. Each layer contributes to the atmosphere of the piece, enriching the silent, inner narrative carried by his figures.
Positioned at the threshold between abstraction and figuration, Lemieux crafts surfaces marked by spontaneous impulses, breaks in form, and rhythmic interruptions. He draws inspiration from street-art influences while remaining anchored in classical compositional principles. This balance fuels his ongoing exploration of the female figure as an active, intentional, and meaningful presence.
For Yann Lemieux, painting is a terrain of research where form and content respond to one another. Each work emerges from a tension between structure and release, technical mastery and liberated gesture, resulting in compositions that vibrate with identity, emotion, and movement.

Yann Lemieux
Biography
Yann Lemieux is a contemporary painter based in Quebec City, Canada, whose work has gained recognition among collectors across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
Before dedicating himself fully to painting, he worked in animation, event production, and management. These earlier experiences shaped his unique approach to sharing art, especially through live performances. Since 2016, he has brought his studio directly into public and private venues, creating large-scale works in real time during conferences, festivals, and exclusive events.
Yann focuses primarily on original paintings while also producing custom commissions. Among his notable achievements, he was commissioned by the Canam Group to create a series of eight personalized works.
After exhibiting in galleries in Quebec and Ontario, he founded Atelier Galerie Yann Lemieux in 2021. This hybrid space, located in Quebec City, serves both as his working studio and as a gallery hosting immersive events designed to spark dialogue between artists and the public.
Beyond his artistic practice, Yann is deeply engaged in cultural mediation. He collaborates with diverse communities, including individuals with disabilities, marginalized youth, and seniors. His inclusive projects emphasize creativity as a powerful tool for personal expression and collective empowerment.
