Inspired by the bold charisma of the legendary antiheroine Harley Quinn, this artwork is a celebration of rebellion and self-liberation. Through vivid colors and graffiti-like marks, the artist channels an energy that is raw, unapologetic and fiercely independent. The piece reflects her ongoing exploration of movement as a vehicle for empowerment, an invitation to break free from expectations and embody one’s true identity.
______
My artistic approach is based on a deep exploration of femininity, its complexity, and its power. At the intersection of street art, pop art, contemporary expressionism, and graffiti, I have developed a striking visual language where raw energy meets confident sensuality. My female characters, brought to life through vibrant color palettes, embody freedom, rebellion, but also vulnerability and love. Always in control of their image, they assert their presence and express a rich, self-assured inner world.
Animals also hold an important place in my creative universe. They are not mere subjects but symbols of instinct, strength, and resilience. I reinvent them through vivid colors that convey inner intensity and create a dialogue between chaos and order, between the symbolic power of the animal and chromatic exuberance. This duality fuels the visual energy of my work and enhances its emotional impact.
Technically, my work relies on mixed media combining acrylic paint, screen printing, and marker typography. My compositions, both spontaneous and carefully orchestrated, vibrate with controlled chaos, where bursts of color meet graphic structure. Each piece thus becomes a territory of identity affirmation, a space where raw emotion, freedom, and intensity are embodied.
Music also plays a central role in my creative process. It guides my gestures, influences the energy of my compositions, and becomes a source of emotion that I translate onto the canvas. My deep intention is for each of my works to speak for itself, to engage and convey a strong and authentic emotional charge, true to the energy that drives my work.

Julie-Mila Bouffard
Biography
Born in 1986 in Baie-Comeau, Mila is a Canadian painter whose practice bridges studio rigor and urban energy. She studied visual arts at Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup from 2003 to 2006, completed a Bachelor’s in Visual and Media Arts at Université Laval in 2010, and earned a graduate diploma in college teaching in 2012.
Her work celebrates women in their complexity, courage, and contradictions. The paintings fuse pop and street influences with contemporary expressionism and graffiti vocabulary. Vivid color, graphic structure, and gestural marks create a language where raw energy meets sensuality, and where agency, desire, and freedom are stated with clarity.
Animal figures often act as symbolic mirrors of instinct and resilience. The lion, a recurring subject, becomes a vehicle for inner intensity, reimagined through saturated palettes that balance exuberance and control. Music is central to her process. She paints to its rhythm and translates emotion into movement so that each canvas speaks first through feeling and only then through reflection.
Her work has appeared internationally, including in the book State of the Art, Artist’s Book from Aberta Gallery in Portugal and in the Hidden Treasure Art Magazine Yearbook 2014 in London. Her paintings are held in private collections in Canada. For American collectors, her work is presented on Belanger - The Collections.
